thanks rufus - on the other hand....is "rational" thought really the way to go....sometimes intuitive stuff isn't necessarily "rational" or "logical:

"the relevance, significance, or importance of opposing evidence and logical argument"

I guess it is ourselves that in the end define the words in the above sentance...so everything could be self deception

In terms of alchoholism, I think I just try to be aware of how my thoughts can lead me to a drink and try note the insanity and then let it go.
