Best Oil Options!

Your Best Oil Options:

Choosing among the myriad cooking oils out there is confusing. Some vegatable oils, like corn, are low in saturated fat, but don't offer much nutritionally, says University of Maryland food scientists Mark Kantor. Here, three healthy alternatives oils:

Peanut:
Helps your heart by giving you a good supply of cholesterol-lowering monounsaturated fat.
Best uses:
High-heat cooking, particuarly for longer and multiple batch deepfrying. It's didtinctive, nutty flavor is a good complement to some foods.

Canola:
It has minimal artery-clogging saturated fat and lots of monounsaturated. Its omega-3fatty acids may help protect against heart disease.
Best uses:
Medium-to high heat cooking, such as baking, sauteeing and stirfrying. It withstands high heats and has a natural taste.

Olive:
It's low in saturated fat and high in monounsaturated, which drops bad (LDL) cholesterol, not good (HDL), and doesn't raise triglycerides.
Best uses:
Salad dressings and marinades when you want an olive flavor; low- to medium-heat cooking, like quick sauteeing and grilling.
