(((Ksos)))
I was thinking about you the other day. A few years ago, I ruptured a disk in my back. I have never had such excruciating pain. I went to a clinic, was given strong lortabs and somas but it didn't touch the pain, no matter how many I took. I went to my doctor, speech slurred, OBVIOUSLY under the influence and told him "well, my SPEECH may be affected, but my PAIN isn't". He gave me mepergan, which took away a bit of the pain.
I remember taking care of patients with pancreatitis and the pain they were in.
I, honestly, don't think I could even think about anything else but the pain. I know people deal with chronic pain and I admire them. But I understand how hard it would be to work on recovery when all you can think about is how much you're hurting. It took me 6 weeks to be able to tie my shoes, but after 3 days, I went back to work as a nurse in the busiest ER in Atlanta....when the pain began getting better, I realized how much we take for granted when we are healthy.
I'm excited to see how life goes for you, without pain...I hate to see any of my friends in pain!
Hugs and prayers!
Amy
