| Not sure if I'm following you correctly or not but I seem to always have trouble using the quick reply, I always use the reply to thread and it seems to help.
When you type a long post, periodically throughout, try to copy and drop into Word and it will save it. When you're done, before you hit the submit reply, recopy it all. Sounds like a lot of work but it's not nearly as much work or aggrevation as when you loose an entire post that you spilled your guts on.
Something else, once I started to preview my post before hitting submit, it didn't seem to lose it as often.
