Boy did that one pop out at me! If I don't put my sobriety first and foremost, I am doomed to fail eventually. Staying sober each day is by far the most important thing I will accomplish, and everything else after that is the icing on the cake.
I do think it takes time in the program to find some balance.
That being said, we do have 3 meetings a week in our small town. I don't think that 3 hours (give or take some time) out of 168 hours per week is too much to ask of myself. I also do my morning mediations, my 10th step at night, and am currently working with a new sponsee on going through the steps.
I've found that when I start to slack off on meetings, it gets easier and easier to miss more and more of them.
I'll stick with what works for me, because without sobriety, I can toss out anything else I'd like to do each day
