When I asked the Dr.'s about this, their response is that they don't think my son is a danger to himself or anyone else since he recognizes that the voice is a product of his illness and not an actual command from a diety.
They did up his lithium, zyprexa and clonopine (sp?) after the 3rd time he reported the voice.
I think they're naive beyond words. I think this is how people end up getting shot in school auditoriums (or possibly get killed while sleeping in their own beds). Anyone have any insight to share? |
No, not normal and not okay at all.
Not normal for bipolar and not a normal side effect of medications.
I think you are right to be concerned and everything you said.
If it were my son I would have him at the ER so fast, or in any doctors office until someone believed me.
'Most' doctors take stuff like that Very seriously.
MY doctors even ask me stuff like that at times, and I tell them no all the time, but they say they just 'have' to check for safety reasons and the law.
I had to sign something today saying if they ever felt I was a danger to myself or anyone else, the confidentiality is no longer valid.
I would do something quick. Not normal at all.
JMO...
I'm so sorry you are going through this.
