I need to lose weight, too. I think that you probably don't eat enough. I had a friend, who ate something every 2 hours...not ALWAYS something healthy, but most of the time it was...maybe some fruit, small salad, granola bar, etc. She never had a problem with weight. It's a proven fact that when we eat several small meals a day, instead of 2-3, your metabolism is sped up.
That's a big part of my problem. I work nights, sleep during the day, so the only time I eat is at work. I can go a whole day and all I will eat is a cup of chili...but I don't lose weight. Guess it's time to put what I know into practice, huh?
What sugarsweetpea said, is also right on....when we exercise our muscles, they speed the metabolism up.
