ditto what Nan said....

Splendra is a long-time member here at SR and i believe she is very knowledgeable about this topic...hopefully she will notice this thread, but if you really want some good input i'd suggest looking her up and goind to her.

I personally try to substatute as many natural remedies for Rx pills any time i can. You absolutely MUST be careful tho!! As Nan suggested....some can cause bad reactions when mixed with Rx meds, like....i wanted to start a regemine of St. John's Wart as i've known several people it really helps....but i can't take it with the anti-d's and/or with mood stabalizer.

I also agree with Nan about the no alcohol policy. I'm not an alcoholic....and i'm not a doc either, BUT seems that is one remedy that should be skipped if the doc gives a rat's butt about thier patient at all!! I mean.....after all....EVERYTHING about the patient's body and life will suffer if they relapse!!!!

The few of the natural ways i try to keep my depression/sleep/anxiety/health in good shape is to try to get proper sleep (since sleep plays the biggest role in a bipolar's mood changes) by using my breathing machine for my sleep apnea, using relaxation/sleep meditation CDs, deep breathing excersizes, weekly cognative therapy, prayer, positive affirmations, etc.

I'd gotten out the habit of many of them and i've definetly suffered for it. I plan to get back to using my nightly sleep meditation cd soon b/c it really did help my anxiety so much when i was using it...just gotta find it and plug it in...yadda, yadda. ANd i could always implore more prayer and positive affirmations AND if i can get back out of this current depressive episode i really want to start walking again because that regular excersize also does us LOADS of good.

Nan....funny you include chiropracters in that list....guess i never thought of them as being a part of the "new age" group of health care peeps! I've only been a handful of times myself and only due to recent back and neck issues, but i can assure you that's no load of bull! Being able to walk out of their office and turn your head (when you couldn't when you walked in) is definetly no bull. lol

oh.....and i ALSO enjoy using and learning about aromatherapy quite a bit....just haven't kept up with it much lately either.

Anyway, that's my 3 cents :P
