I really feel for you, you love this man, and he doesn't know how to love himself.

You cannot fix him, only he can come to the realisation that he needs help, until then he will continue what he is doing.

You might want to write him a letter, using much of what you have said in this thread, and you should give him to him when he is stone cold sober.

I have learned that I cannot, and will not "love someone to death", and that I cannot fix another, he/she is responsible for self.

I can you see you love him so much, he needs to get help, and you need to set some boundaries my dear.
