You will not get anxious on xanax. It is a benzodiazapam. A downer. It is used to treat anxiety.
I cannot speak about the effexor; I've never been on it and know little about it. But, others will be around who do.
There is a thread above, in the stickies, that talk about the different meds. It is a good place for you to check out information on medications, rather than relying on others opinions. Actually, we just had a crash, and I'm not sure if it's still there. So, if not, you can check out
