Same story here.A black pit of depression for no apparent reason at all.Having every reason to be happy and being incapable of feeling it.It seems to be a fairly simple case of unbalanced brain chemistry. My doctor prescribed Zoloft for me,but there are many others which all do the same basic thing. It restores the balance.
With modern antidepressants there is no instant high,no unrealistic euphoria, and no crash. It takes time for them to reach the full effective level in your system.Between a few days and a few weeks. In my case, the terrible despair began to lift within the first few days.I felt relief and hope.In a few weeks I felt fine.
The pills do NOT prevent me from feeling anxiety, sadness,or any other ordinary emotion. What they do is allow me to feel the full range of emotion without the all consuming darkness and misery.I can cope with that.I can enjoy life as others do.
I'd strongly suggest seeing your doctor. You have a great chance of being able to move beyond this, and have a good life.
Keep posting and let us know how it goes.
