This was very true for me Doug. I thought I was being responsible because I kept a clean house, clean kids, bills paid, good food & lots of love for my family. Of course this wasn't so when I was drinking. The kids are in their 30's & 40's now & they still remember Mom being drunk a lot.
I have a spiritual life with my AA Program, meditations, prayers, especially the Serenity Prayer, and wisdom to know how to take care of myself first before I can help others.
