yes....there is most likely a state mental health clinic and possibly a physical health clinic nearby you that is for low income/no insurance.
try visiting
www.nami.org and look up support available in your town...and try calling some of the numbers to see if they know of a local state mental health clinic for those without insurance. there are several in my state that will help people like us get meds when we can't afford them...places i didn't know existed until i lost my job and insurance because of the major depressive episode i was going thru.
btw...i gained 100 pounds in a year during my first major depressive episode (which i didn't know that's what it was at the time or that i was bipolar either). if you are in your late teens or early twenties...that is typically the time of onset for people like me.
i also crave carbs/chocolate/sugar when depressed...and i now know i'm not quite boarderline diabetic b/c i can't have very much sugar without it making me very, very sleepy. you could very well have some sugar/insolin issues going on which can also cause depression so that's definetly something to get checked out when you can. have them check your thyroids too...and vitamin/mineral levels. when you can...
