I personally had to get rid of all my old partying buddies, when I quit. That was why I liked the AA meetings. Early in recovery I sure didn't go for any 'program', lol
I went because I felt safe in the meetings, and they were people who had been where I was or were where I was. Those meetings is where I started to meet and make new sober friends.

That was almost 26 years ago, and I still have some of those friends today.
