Hi Mimi ((hugs))
What I find so difficult some days is to separate my addictions! What I know is that when I gamble - I don't eat. When I take percoset - I don't eat. When I drink - I don't eat. Those addictions numb/meet the same need as eating for me. That, by the way, was my voila! moment around eating being an addiction.
What I read up in the alcoholism forum, though, sounds very much like some of what you are dealing with - and it may well be a sympton of the alcoholism withdrawal and the related anxiety.
I also urge you to seek medical help and to read up on a condition called Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome - PAWS. There are some good books in that area - Getting Sober by Gorski and Miller and Under the Influence by Milam and Ketchum (and excerpted up at the top of the alcoholism forum here!:
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...influence.html (Excerpts "Under The Influence") ).
I wish you the best.
