Thanks for the info. I'm Mom of addict who lately has been "seeing things" which is scary for some of the reasons you stated - ie people don't understand MI and they tend to say the wrong thing. I've talked to one church member and advised to "let them do their own recovery" which is true they have to but can't I be there to listen and pray etc. - don't like being called co-dependent but I understand that too - still very confusing for me especially when it's an adult and even as a Mom i can't entervene unless there is danger to the person.
