The problem with sponsorship is that many AA's are flaming codependents, and can pull a control trip of some sort. But on the other hand, many newcomers are all enthused in the "pink cloud" stage, but then fade away when the heat's off, and eventually end up drinking.
I think both of you have a right to be concerned. Communication is important, and it wouldn't hurt to stay in touch. I wouldn't wait to have the perfect sponsor.
